Black Editions is proud to present the definitive edition of High Rise’s classic 1986 album “High Rise II”. Newly mixed and mastered by Nanjo Asahito and featuring restored original LP artwork with heavy textured jacket and metallic ink printing. Also including new insert featuring never before seen band photos and artwork by guitarist Munehiro Narita.
Born from the explosive chemistry of bassist/vocalist ASAHITO NANJO and frenetic guitarist MUNEHIRO NARITA, HIGH RISE blazed a wild new stream of psychedelic guitar music from the 1980's Tokyo Underground.
Their second album, High Rise II, is a defining document of the band and unquestionably one of the greatest albums to emerge from 20th century underground Japan and beyond. With Nanjo’s distorted thunder bass and Narita’s wildly narrative lead guitar playing, High Rise II is a non-stop tour de force of improvised rock music. Combining elements of garage rock, punk and no wave, the band pushed all levels fully in-the-red and transcended the limits of rock and psychedelia to create a raw, unique expansion of the music.

Originally released in 1986 on LP (PSF-2) and 1993 on CD (PSFD-2) by P.S.F. Records, Tokyo. This edition transferred from original master tapes and mixed in 2017 by Asahito Nanjo.
Definitely different from his more recent collaboratively ethereal and leisurely LP's, this is a crepitating, sparsely textured album that sounds like a peregrine mixture of Whitehouse eeriness, Diamanda Galas, and the first Sonic Youth LP if it was played by Jandek. A fascinating LP that is best played at very loud volumes lying on the sofa after a few Fernet Branca's. brantly
Old school Japanese fuzzed out psych from the classic P.S.F. label. Of the same cloth and time as similar Japanese monster bands Fushitsusha & High Rise, these tracks are less avant-garde than those bands and more focused on the songs and melody. Of course when discussing "Out" the stupendous playing of guitar master Michio Kurihara (later of the Japanese band Ghost) must be stated which sets the album on fire. I have been wanting to score this on vinyl for over a decade, totally worth the wait! bcb723
